Selecting the right ART & ACCESSORIES for your home.

Ah just like the icing on the cake, ART and ACCESSORIES are what give any home that finished look. We consider them KEY ELEMENTS in home decorating for living and selling!

Choosing ART & ACCESSORIES for LIVING:

The type of art & accessories you select to complete the look of your home will be based on your overall decorating style. In interior design your art and accessories are in the home to provide the 10% accent colour. To really 'work' in the home you need to have at least 3 things in your accent colour. Accessories consist of throws, cushions, lamp shades, vases, candles, flowers, etc.

• Traditional: for your art think lots of gilded ornate frames with themes of landscapes, portraits or flowers. For accessories think crystal in vases and lighting, lots of texture and some pattern in throws and cushions. Traditional is an 'over-the-top' style which can handle a lot of ornateness!
• Country: for art think natural wood or painted wood frames; farm animals and scenes typify the subject in your art. Your accessories will be 'understated' and with simple patterns of nature, country life.
• Modern/Contemporary: for art and accessories think sleek and shiny; the 'wow' factor decorating can be achieved with punches of bright colours in your art and accessories or the dramatic black and white.
• Eclectic: always a mix of only two with one more dominant than the other.

Choosing ART & ACCESSORIES for SELLING:

• When getting your home ready to go on the market you need to keep in mind our Golden Rule of Staging: "LESS IS MORE".
• Pack up all of your personal photos and your personal collections - buyers don't want to see them and they can often be a distraction.
• Home Sense has the best selection of art and accessories for any style and at very affordable prices. Pick art with 'neutral' themes such as landscapes and florals. For more modern look select cityscapes or black and white prints in black or silver wide frames.

TIP: Art galleries both public and private will rent you art for staging for less than purchased products.
