When to Choose Custom Bedding...

Do you prefer custom bedding or are you are happy with the look of store bought bedding sets. What really matters is what works for your look and your budget!
Over the years I have had many clients who prefer the look of custom bedding. Like anything that is custom there are certain reasons to choose this route:
- Your bed might be an unusual size and retail bedding does not fit it
- Needing to match some of your existing bedding with custom – this gives you the option of coordinating the look and feel with exactly the right fabrics
- Having something that is 'totally you' and that no one else will have – you love the uniqueness of being you and expressing it through your home decor
- Your budget allows for you to pay the price of fabrics of your choice and to have the work done by a professional tradesperson. If it is not perfect it can be redone until it is.

Retail bedding is without a doubt the way to go if you are buying bedding for home staging purposes. And even if you are not staging, there are many fabulous retail stores that offer affordable and gorgeous bedding. When you are staging here are a few TIPS on what to look for...
- Choose bedding that coordinates with your wall paint colour – remember the bedroom function is to relax and feel soothed so soft sage greens, light aqua or warm beiges are great for paint and bedding especially for staging
- Have your bedding blend in rather than stand out but still look elegant and have that 'hotel look' for selling
- Retail bedding can work with any budget – many great bed-in-bag purchases offer great value and good choices – Home Sense, Ikea, department stores and even Walmart carries acceptable staging bedding
- For home staging you don’t need to worry about buying sheets at all just the comforter or duvet top, pillow cases and/or shams and a bed skirt if necessary. If you buy king size for staging you may not need a bed skirt.
- Check the cleaning instructions on your bedding as higher end products may require more care such as dry cleaning; look for cotton/polyester blends for the most easy care products
Of course there are soon to be SUMMER SALES and this is a great time to buy bedding.
