The best way to get balance in a home
is to create 'ZONES' for everyone...

I wanted to dedicate this newsletter to all the mom's out there. Moms are amazing women. You are so self-sacrificing and it shows it some good ways,
and in some not-so-good ways. Many of the homes that I go into look like only children live there and the moms often feel stressed to the max! Let's
change that for you so that your home is more restful, and less stressful. A messy, cluttered, disorganized home creates a stressful environment for
everyone living there. And whether you are living in your home or getting it ready for selling the less mess the more appealing the home environment.
Here are a few TIPS in creating zones for families:
- Look at the rooms that you have and decide which rooms in your homes work best for everyone in the family - base this on the 'function' in each room
- Create 'zones' for each person, then the together zones; a children's zone, a family zone, a relationship zone, a 'his' zone, a 'her' zone depending on how much space you have in your home
- If rooms are shared then have ottomans, trunks or benches with storage to hold toys, magazines, throws, etc so they can be cleaned up at night once the children are in bed
- Think about the number of toys that your children have and decide what they really need to have i.e. what have they outgrown, are they using all 300 crayons, do you need to keep that broken stroller around, have the teenagers moved into a new phase of life but the old stuff is still hanging around in boxes or worse yet on the floor?
A Reminder for Moms... on an airplane they always tell the parent to put their oxygen mask on first, then do your child's. That suggestion implies that you need to take care of yourself first, so that you can take care of others next. It's okay to put yourself 'first' - you decide when that time is!

We all know if you are living in your home and running a busy household it can be challenging to keep the home looking it's best for prospective buyers. So here are a few TIPS to help you to keep the home as ready for showing as is humanly possible by creating 'zones':
- Clear as much of the clutter as you can when showing your home and use storage ottomans, trunks, benches, etc. whenever possible for quick clean ups
- When you are thinking of the zones you want to create, think 'what would be most appealing to a buyer in this space'
- Try and create 'single function' zones where only one activity is going on, and it is very clear what that activity is.
- Home stagers are known for creating 'vignettes' in rooms. Vignettes are often calming and we do this to appeal to the senses and reduce stress.
- Try this as your mantra: Less Mess = Less Stress = More Offers
